Motorcycles
Whether you are looking for full coverage or liability only we offer great rates with a variety of coverage options. We will ask a variety of(delete a variety of) questions to decide which of the many companies we represent would best serve your needs. You will receive quotes from several leading companies and be offered options that are specific to each company. Some questions we may ask:
- How much coverage do you need for custom parts and equipment? Anything added after the bike came from the manufacturer is considered custom whether it was added by you or the dealer.
- Does your health insurance cover injuries resulting from recreational/motorized vehicles? Do you need to purchase additional coverage?
- Do you want original manufactured parts for your bike? Some companies offer this as an option.
- Do you travel on your bike? Some companies offer coverage for “excursion diversion”, where if your trip is interrupted due to a claim they cover additional expenses such as transportation and hotel bills.
- Do you have a transport trailer you want coverage for?
- Are you aware that your bike is not covered by your homeowners insurance when stored? Anything with an engine that is not used to maintain your property is not covered by your homeowners. Most companies in Michigan already give you a winter discount so canceling your coverage in the winter may not save you much money and can cost you a lot if your motorcycle or recreational vehicle is damaged. Also if you endorse your recreational vehicles onto your homeowners you most likely carry a higher deductible and a claim could affect your homeowner’s rates.
- Be sure to ask what discounts you qualify for to make sure you are getting the best rates available for the coverage that is most important to you.
ATV’s/Off Road Vehicles
Most of the information above also applies to ATV’S and off road vehicles. While your homeowners MAY cover damage and liability while on your own property, if it is obvious it was being used recreationally (i.e. your child’s friend was riding around your property) they very well could deny your claim. If you choose to count on your homeowners policy please read it carefully to make sure you are aware exactly what your coverage includes. Pay particular attention to the last 2 bullets listed above. Also understand that while in limited circumstances you may be covered while using the vehicle on your property, if someone goes onto a public road to get to a different part of your property or you take it to a neighbors to help him move something heavy for that brief time you may not be covered.
Why risk it? For a very reasonable rate you can protect your investment and yourself from costly legal fee’s and judgments.
